Darby’s work explores the intersection of fantasy, memory, identity, and the passage of time from a female perspective. A childhood spent in rural northern California informs much of her work which examines personal and societal aspects of domestic and life have shaped her identity. Highlighting the contrast of whimsy and hardship becomes a lens through which she examines the construction of self.
